ABOUT ME
My name is Claire Simpson. I am Zimbabwean born and raised, English grown and nurtured. I am a personal trainer and fitness instructor who has been practicing professionally for 8 years, having spent most of my life involved in sports and fitness.
I love human bodies. I love what they can do and what they can learn. I love their potential. I don’t love them being scrutinised and idolised, or agonised and shamed. So I’m here to create a platform where exercising is for enjoyment and progress. Where eating well is encouraged to fuel a happy life. I am here to advocate for living life with health at the front of our minds and donuts in the hearts of our minds.
I hope to provide you with workout and eating inspiration, and to help discourage any unhealthy relationships with exercise or food. Here we like to love our bodies, love our food and love ourselves.
EXPERTISE
I am a personal trainer and fitness instructor, with qualifications in
Spinning
Les Mills BodyPump
Les Mills Grit
Circuits
Kettlebells
Suspension training
I love group exercise and the energy of teaching classes, but I am mostly driven by one to one training and helping people achieve their goals. I love the challenge of tailoring fitness to suit individual wants and needs, and I really love a good chat. I believe that personal training is the best way of learning to understand your health and fitness needs, including:
How to move efficiently and safely
How to make your body work for you
How to fuel your body to get to where you want to be
How to push yourself
How to get the most out of what you do
And how to have a laugh while you do it.
NUTRITION
I do not offer strict nutritional plans or involve myself in meal prep, but I do offer nutritional advice and involve myself in meal ideas. I don’t believe in a cookie-cutter diet that you have to contort yourself into. I think life needs flexibility and freedom, so I aim to provide you with the information you need to make your own decisions and reach your goals while still enjoying what you do and what you eat.
TRAINING
I have participated in a vast amount of sports and fitness in my life and I like to think that everything I have done has helped to shape the training style I have developed. Predominantly I focus on weight based training - in terms of both resistance and high intensity work.
More specifically, I have been hugely influenced by HIIT training and by CrossFit. I think the performance of CrossFit athletes speaks for itself with regard to how successful the training is. However, there are aspects of the sport I don’t necessarily agree with. So I take the essence of crossfit and mix it with my own experiences and the influences of other sports and practices to create what I believe is a well rounded and fun training style.
